On behalf of SSI's welcome2Sydney project, project leader Paula Ben David received the award presented by the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) and the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA).
With Greater Sydney now several weeks into lockdown, and with the announcement of an extension till at least 30th July, now is the time we really need to be checking on ourselves, and each other.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work, the Gadigal people; and the traditional custodians of all the lands we visit and work with. We recognise their continuing custodianship of the land, waters and culture; and their sovereignty that has never been ceded. We pay respects to Elders – past, present and emerging.
